Name: Webmaster Date: November 16, 2003 3:28 pm Location: Comments: The following comments were kindly submitted by a Sault Tower controller: 6 controllers and 1 UOS is our minimum staffing complement. We have five assessment periods of 20 training days each. One person checked out in 2003 and another the year before. No one has been cease trained in the last three years, but there were a few before that. The hardest part about this site is working alone during busy times. If you like the outdoors, especially the winter, you'd like the Soo. We're on the USA/Canada border so trips to the States are frequent. The tower provides an all round training syllabus. You see all kinds of aircraft and have to mix them together. The training here gives you a good base of experience should you decide to move on to bigger units.
